Emergent synthesis is timeless and universal, so it can be applicable to the current complicated production environment such as Industry 4.0, Internet of Things, Cyber-Physical Systems, sharing economy, carbon neutrality, etc. The keynote presentation revisits the concept of emergent synthesis. Afterwards, value creation models are reviewed, which are the development model of emergent synthesis from a value synthesis point of view. Furthermore, the keynote will discuss some issues regarding the design of services. Mechanism design, which is an applied field in economics, is utilised for that. Finally, a research example about designing services with a mechanism design approach will be presented.

Keywords: Emergent synthesis, Value creation, Mechanism design, Service mechanism, Matching theory

Video presentation

Presenting author

Name:

Affiliation:

Email:

Nariaki Nishino

The University of Tokyo, Japan

nishino@tmi.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp

by Prof. Nariaki Nishino (Japan) Abstract The concept of emergent synthesis has been proposed by Ueda et al. in 2001, Although over two decades have passed since then, however, it is not yet old.
