Within this context, the aim of this paper is to present a 3D measurement simulation tool for evaluating a given scanning path in terms of visibility and scanning quality. This simulator is based on the analysis of the laser-plane sensor configurations on the CMM with respect to the part geometry. It can be used as an interesting predictive tool for finding the optimal scan path to digitize the part with a required quality.

Keywords: Dimensional inspection; Measurement quality; Laser-plane sensor; Scan path; Simulation; Coordinate measuring machine (CMM)

Video presentation

Presenting author

Name:

Affiliation:

Email:

Sif Eddin Sadaoui

Ecole Militaire Polytechnique, Algiers, Algeria

sifeddine.sadaoui@emp.mdn.dz

by Sif Eddine Sadaoui, Nguyen Duy Minh Phan, Charyar Mehdi-Souzani, Mahiddini Brahim (Algeria) Abstract 3D inspection process relying on the use of laser-plane sensors is more widely used for industrial applications due to their great ability to digitize the whole surface within a short time.
