The concept goes beyond the mere post-processing of additive manufacturing parts by machining, becoming a new paradigm, with a synergistic result of great projection. The article deals, with the support of the scientific literature, the evolution of the concepts involved and identifies the main research and industry challenges. It presents among its conclusions a consistent definition of Hybrid Manufacturing AM/SM and points out the crucial points for its development.

Keywords: Hybrid Manufacturing; AM/SM; Additive Manufacturing; Subtractive Manufacturing; Digital Twin

Video presentation

Presenting author

Name:

Affiliation:

Email:

Manuel Angel Rabalo

Universidad Nacional de Educacion a Distancia (UNED), Madrid

mrabalo1@alumno.uned.es

by Manuel Angel Rabalo, Eva Maria Rubio, Beatriz de Agustina, A.
