In this work, the orthogonal cutting of X30CrMoN-15-1 steel with CBN tools was studied. The thermomechanical loads in the cutting zone were experimentally investigated with different cutting parameters. Based on the empirical results, two numerical simulation models, friction and material models were developed, inverse calibrated and verified by comparing cutting forces and workpiece temperature.
