The study includes experimental tests on two multi-material specimens of different machinability composed by a stack of 3 plates, the first one Mg-Al-Mg and the second one Mg-Ti-Mg. As factors with potential influence on the degradation of the tool, it is investigated the type of multi-material, S, the type of cooling system, C and the speed of rotation, N. It is analysed as response variable the tool deformation measured as the maximum surface height, Sz, averaged for the two cutting edges of the tool, and this value is compared with the maximum roughness measured inside the machined hole expressed as Ra using a contact roughness tester. As main conclusions, it is stated that the lowest Sz in specimen 1, Mg-Al-Mg, was produced using MQL-Eco and, in specimen 2, Mg-Ti-Mg, using cryogenic refrigeration, in both cases at low N (rpm). Furthermore, and according to the analysis of variance performed, the only statistically significant factor among those analysed is the type of multi-material, S.
