Under the Covid-19 pandemic, it is required to secure sufficient distance between customers in a restaurant. However, it is difficult to determine the optimal distance between tables because the “sufficient distance” depends on each customer. A smaller number of tables leads to a wider interval but reduced sales, whereas a narrower interval will have safety-conscious customers avoid visiting the restaurant. The proposed method utilizes an auction for allocating customers to tables according to the bids accepted from them for the combinations of a mealtime and acceptable distance to others.

Keywords: Scheduling auction, Restaurant reservation, Covid-19

Video presentation

Presenting author

Name:

Affiliation:

Email:

Shota Suginouchi

Aoyama Gakuin University, Japan

suginouchi@ise.aoyama.ac.jp

by Shota Suginouchi, Hajime Mizuyama (Germany) Abstract This study proposes a restaurant reservation method using Scheduling Auction.
