In order to illustrate the potential of Biological Transformation, holistic sustainability approaches along the product life cycle are required, considering ecological and economic aspects. Graph- based design languages facilitate fast creation of several product design variants, applying numerous modifications. These range from material choice to recycling strategies. Therefore graph-based design languages enable the analysis and comparison of different product variants in terms of ecological aspects, costs and performance, which are crucial factors for an increase in acceptance of Biological Transformation in industry. This approach is exemplified in the field of aviation.

Keywords: Graph-based design languages, Biological transformation, Sustainable manufacturing, Life cycle assessment

Video presentation

Presenting author

Name:

Affiliation:

Email:

Maximilian Holland

Fraunhofer Institute for Casting, Composite and Processing Technology IGCV, Germany

maximilian.holland@igcv.fraunhofer.de

by Marion Fruechtl, Maximilian Holland, Aljoscha Hieronymus (Germany) Abstract Biological Transformation is a promising approach towards sustainable manufacturing.
