Dear Prof. Portman, thank you very much for your interesting presentation on the novel method to evaluate the stiffness of machine tool drives’ system. The application of the method to three common machine tool designs and the comparison of the stiffness-related performance of the different machine tool configurations are impressive for their effectiveness. Is the mentioned “straightforward algorithm” an a research software tool or has it been implemented as a software code to support machine tool designers in practice?
Dear Prof. Teti:
Thank yo very much for your interesting comments.
This is the first publication related to the new method of drives’ stiffness evaluation. In the previsions works, the problems were considered only for the stiffness evaluation of parallel-kinematics robots. However, machine tools become the most interesting application area, and we plan to continue its development including the transformation of our Mathematica-based code in the utility for machine tool software.
Thank you for your time and great work for creating the Conference in the existing format and its further effective functioning from the 1 to the 16 Conference. By the way, I was taken part in the first Conference and I’m happy to renew my participation.
Best regards and best wishes.
Vladimir
