thank you for your very interesting presentation dealing with the influence of heat on the performance of ball bearings in rotational systems.
In your presentation, it is reported that temperature measurement of the bearing rings can be effectively utilized for the purpose of clearance control and predictive maintenance of ball bearings.
Are you also thinking about the utilization of other sensor types, may be simultaneously, in order to realise a sensor fusion approach to this anomaly detection problem?
thank you for the question. Actually, the temperature measurements were our first step to the prediction of the actual value of operating clearance and certainly they are for us the relevant part of the diagnostics of bearing’s dynamic.
Over the development of our experimental setup, we have also applied the eddy current sensor for the estimation of the shaft’s endplay influencing the bearing’s operation.
The another step to increase the power of our sensor fusion, for now temperature, acceleration and eddy-current sensor, the next step can be the implementation of rotating connector increasing the accuracy of temperature measurements.
