The results of this study were obtained by static simulation, finding (in a cylindrical hole cases) a favorable tendency in natural frequency increase without reducing too much the stiffness by mass reduction. However, the next step is to make machining tests using the L/D bar cases that presented the best tendencies to analyze their damping performance. In this way it will also be possible to include the dynamic effect of the cutting process.
Do you consider effect of boring bar damping on bar performance as it s mass is changing ?
Thanks.
Thank you very much for your question.
